DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

Led by professionals in the field, the domestic violence awareness course helps women and men understand the dangers of domestic violence and prepares them to recognize and safely respond to signs and symptoms of domestic violence in the lives of friends and loved ones. Hosted in partnership with EmpowerHouse.

Sessions are not progressive, they can be attended as participants have availability/interest. *No sign-ups required.

February 9/Session 1: DV 101 – Basic Understanding of Domestic Violence, Statistics, Impact, Safety

February 16/ Session 2: Power and Control – Definitions, Types of Abuse, Risks, Safety Planning

February 23/Session 3: Listening and Boundaries – Importance of Recognizing Boundaries, Coping Skills, Listening, Next Steps

March 1/Session 4: Community Resources – How to Help a Friend, Safety, Confidentiality, Allied Partners, Healthcare, Court Services

March 8/Session 5: Law Enforcement Response in partnership w/ Stafford Sheriff’s Office

March 22/Session 6: Domestic Violence – Children and Youth- Impact, Healthy Relationships for Teens, Red Flags, Resources
